As of 2016, researchers and scientists have come to believe that there are about two trillion galaxies in the universe. They differ in size – from dwarfs with just a few hundred million stars to giants with one hundred trillion stars. A galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, dust, interstellar gas, stellar remnants and dark matter.
